Adopt a German Shepherd Dog

German Shepherd Dog Dog

Russia *Miracle Dog* the Dog needs a home

German Shepherd dogs, as well as the other herding breeds that we have in rescue, are highly active, energetic, working breeds. They require considerable vetting, exercise, socialization, training, leadership and mental stimuli in order to be well-adjusted, well-balanced, and well-mannered dogs.

If you are new to German Shepherds (and other herding breeds), please research the breed to make sure this is the dog for you. We ask that you consider the time and financial commitment that your German Shepherd (or other herding breed) dog will require before applying for one. Please review the section on our website (www.heartlandgsrescue.org) "Is a HUGS Dog Right for You?" for additional information.

Russia is a totally adorable 2 year-old girl, who ended up at a very high-kill shelter in Southern California, during the dreadful Christmas Dump. Poor Russia was absolutely terrified in the shelter environment, which unfortunately, placed her at risk of being euthanized. Thanks to the amazing Miracle GSD Network, we were able to pull her to safety before it was too late. As soon as she was out of the shelter, Russia immediately warmed up and thrived in her foster home. Russia absolutely loves being a family pet. In fact, Russia would like to be the only pet in her furever home.

Russia is an absolutely lovely companion who gives great kisses. She's affectionate, loves to lean against you and be touched. She loves to be brushed and cuddled with. Russia walks well on a leash, is well-behaved in public, and loves to go for long walks. She rides very well in the car, she is crate-trained, she is very smart, and an excellent listener. Russia is absolutely adorable and a love-bug!  She purrs like a kitten when petted, and if allowed, she loves, loves, loves to lounge on furniture. Russia loves snow, but most of all, she just wants to hang by your side, and if you sit down, she will tuck right in next to you. Russia needs slow, managed introductions to new people in her home. A home that is not too busy or loud, without a lot of different people going in and out, would be best for this sweet girl.

Russia would be a fantastic companion for any active adopter, and a great fit for either an experienced GSD person, or a first-time GSD owner.

Like all German Shepherds and other herding breeds that we have in rescue, Russia will need training, consistency, boundaries, and lots of activity and socialization.
Our dogs make great additions to active families who will pamper them, but who will also work with them, as they are smart dogs who need leadership, plenty of activity and mental stimulation.

Reminder: Even if you exercise and play with your dog daily in your fenced yard, please remember that, you MUST still take your dog out on daily walks and outings, in order to work on his/her leash skills, manners, and social skills

Please review the information in the "About Us" and "Adopt" sections on our website (www.heartlandgsrescue.org), as it contains useful information about the breed, adoption fees, the adoption process and our requirements, and how meeting the dogs works.
